Wandering with passion: icon painting - creating art from soul
Learn to draw with confidence and paint what you feel and see.
Dates: September 21 - 27, 2014
Instructor/Leader: Misty Mawn
Cost - $2995
Come away to a dreamland they call Orvieto, tucked in the heart of Italy, where the beloved town drips and radiates with beauty, history, and wonder. Come spend a week exploring, learning, sharing, drawing, painting and wandering with passion.
During this week-long workshop you will learn to draw with confidence and paint what you feel and see. We will use the breathtaking views around us for inspiration. With our cameras in hand we will spend a morning wandering around Orvieto, gathering images to bring back to the studio to inspire you to create a work of art that reflects this magical time of becoming more of the artist that you are.
Several demonstrations each day will focus on drawing contrast, handling brushes, mixing color, and painting emotions into your work. We will work on sketch after sketch until we find the perfect study for a painting. From there we will begin to explore the ways to complete a painting from start to finish placing importance on modern to traditional Icon Portraits.
Ask Misty where she would love to spend a week creating art, exploring inspiring cobblestone streets, and submerging herself in culture and her answer is, "Where else? Italy!" And so she joins us for a third time inspiring her students.
