DJ Pettitt

Trip Description
Join DJ on her second workshop with us in Italy capturing the alluring beauty and inspiration of Orvieto with your digital camera as you meander down cobblestone streets, impassioned and entwined in the luscious Italian countryside, and the dreamy, harmonious color and texture of ancient surroundings. You’ll chat as you wander and snap the shutter about seeing things differently, about how to use the photos, sights, found treasures, and memories of the day as inspiration, and how to incorporate them into your art. Back in the studio, you will print your photos, and then focus on innovative and unique ways to preserve these treasured memories.

Record your week of enchanted Italian memories in a hand bound journal that you will create, filling it with your personal imagery, altered photos, treasures found at the street market and acquired in your Orvieto wanderings, along with lace and tidbits brought from home. Learn surface techniques to create texture and interest in your journal, as well as future works after you return home.

No drawing or painting skills required. Class is open to all skill levels and each will received personalized attention from DJ.

Students will experiment, play, and learn the following:
