Wandering with Passion in Italy
Creating Art from the Soul
Dates: September 30 - October 6, 2012
Instructor/Leader: Misty Mawn
Trip Description
Ask Misty where she would love to spend a week creating art, exploring inspiring cobblestone streets, and submerging herself in culture and her answer is, "Where else? Italy!" Join Misty on her second trip to Italy with us and spend a few days gently unraveling your artistic self, all while dipping into the beautiful autumn palette of Orvieto. This workshop is for everyone and anyone dreaming to create art that speaks from the soul, art that is created using layers upon layers of texture, color, expression, design, and collage.
What better foundation to work than your very own handmade journal? Before you start layering the pages you will be creating a journal using artist grade watercolor paper, a few strips of fabric, and a beautiful piano hinge technique to bind the book. Once the book has been created you will be gently guided to dive in to you pages, focusing on non-intimidat-
ing drawing & painting techniques, composition, design, and adding collage elements.
During your week you will be free to be spontaneous and open with yourself and in your art in a nurturing setting.
You will learn how to create a journal from scratch, such a satisfying
feeling!
You will learn handfuls of wonderful, fun techniques to build depth
and texture in your work.
You will learn the basics of how to draw a face and paint it as well.
You will learn how to use color to create certain emotions in your work.
You will learn how to transfer images and then alter them.
You will learn how to use several mediums, finding one or many that
work best for you.
You will learn how to create art from the soul!
