An Italian Anthology

Dates: September 16 - 22, 2012
Instructor/Leader:
Tracie and Marylin Huskamp
Cost - $2995

Trip Description
Create an anthology of Italian inspiration by weaving experiences and beautiful images of ancient surroundings together, through fiber, paint, and collage. During this week-long workshop, students will capture the magnificent beauty of Orvieto by creating a series of two to five art pieces, suitable for framing!

In the studio, you will use personal photos and innovative techniques to chronicle the memorable moments of this unforgettable journey. The resulting artworks will be imbued with the colors and textures of Italy, employing new found skills learned in the workshop that you will be able to use in future art-making.

No drawing or painting skills are required. Class is open to all skill levels and each will received personalized attention from both, Tracie Lyn and Marylin.

Students will experiment, play with, and learn the following:
• Work with photographs taken on walks through the landscapes of
Orvieto. Then transform those captured photo images into hand
  painted commemorative art.
• Learn a fast and easy way of drawing photo images onto muslin
canvas. (NO DRAWING SKILLS ARE REQUIRED!)
• Use your canvas sketches as a guide to bringing the drawing to life.
• Work with acrylic paints to further develop these illustrated subjects.
• Learn how to extract painted subjects from their original canvas
substrate, providing options for placing elements onto a completely
  different background.
• Integrate collage elements and learn basic composition tips.
• Explore unique methods for distressing muslin turning a plain
background into a work of art.

No experience needed - just a sense of adventure!
