Trip Description
Join Lisa for a fascinating week of surface design possibilities, inspired by the ancient history and luscious colors of Orvieto. Gather inspiration from the textures of stones, designs from intricate mosaics and delicately wrought local lace. Combine these with the glorious colors of the Italian countryside to create a fabric art piece to treasure. This collected inspiration will be used to create a journal of resources for future works of textile art.
Students will experiment with the following surface design techniques:
Fabric painting including the basics of mixing color.
Obtaining rubbings in a variety of scale and dimension.
Collage tips for combining texture.
Fabric stamping for added design.
Foiling secrets revealed.
Bead embellishment for exciting dimension.
Lisa will gently guide you through these techniques, resulting in
stunning textile creations from your own hand. Play, experiment, mix and match techniques as you build a collection of fabrics filled with the colors and textures of Italy. Then cut and stitch together a fabric collage reflecting your magical week in Orvieto. Exquisite beaded embellishments bring your art piece to life. What a magnificent way to remember Italy.
